MINI SUV to be Built by Magna?

MINI has been in the news lately with regards to the forthcoming Clubman model, the much awaited MINI Cooper wagon. Much like the internationally-inspired wagon concepts, the new Clubman will feature a rear-hinged access (suicide) door plus an extended wheelbase for much-needed extra interior room. Undisguised interior and exterior spy shots have already made their way onto the internet and it’s common knowledge that the car will be debuting this September in Frankfurt. But what’s also got MINI in the news is word regarding a forthcoming compact sport utility vehicle, filling in the niche that smart didn’t when the formore compact SUV was canned.
According to the Globe and Mail newspaper, Canadian automotive consortium Magna is in talks with BMW to produce this vehicle, which is rumoured to be called the Colorado (although GM, with its Colorado pickup truck, may have something to say about this… how about Mini Moke instead). The Colorado would utilize the stretched platform of the Clubman, but would feature additional ground clearance plus a new all-wheel drive system. The little SUV is expected to account for 65,000 units per year. Surprisingly, along with this info came news of a scheduled production figure of 20,000 units for a Volkswagen roadster.

I bought this in hope to be able to clean/polish my alloy wheels fast. I have some high end OZ wheels with 17 spokes (!). It takes me usually 20min just to clean the wheels. The product is a fantastic polisher but not a cleaner. Using a soft brush and elbow grease it will probably yeald better results. The Mini Powerball started to shred after first use. Maybe its me that I dont know how to use the product. I have not tried the PowerBall being afraid that the results would be disappointing. The power Metal polish works great just with a rag and a buffing mitt. I am now looking at Mothers’ web site or experts to get idea on how to properly use the tool to get the best effect. 3 Stars its all I can give due to the extra work I had to do which would be cut in half by using a brush instead.

The Mothers Powerball & Mini Powerball are outstanding. Recommend it to all car collectors. We just loved the way it works and the time it cuts down to polish crome wheels. Used the big ball on the pro-street wheels and the mini on the front. We’d still be polishing if it wasn’t for the Mothers products.

ATF Be Sure You Are Using The Manufacturer’s Specified Brand

The world of ATF is sure getting interesting isn’t it? Ever ask yourself why? Toyota’s T-4 doesn’t look or feel all that different but that is what is required for Toyota Products. Daimler Chryslers ATF 4 Must stand for plus four dollars you say? Ford’s Mercon SP is much different than that of GM’s Dextron H right? Well, yes and no. But it does make a difference.

The new ATFs are changing for a couple of reasons, one to make more money and keep that money in house, sure that is one reason. But remember automatic transmissions are changing too. Many new automatic transmissions get a 10% increase in efficiency, but using a different strategy. The new automatic transmissions in many cases lock up and shift at high speeds rather than using the slip method. This will require a more durable fluid with anti-shutter friction properties. It will also need improved oxidation formulas and high torque capacities. Now we see OEM ATF on it’s way. Just when you thought you had another way to make money they wish to zap all the profit out and cause you increased inventory costs due to multiple brands. Another reason is to get those customers back their dealers for increased profits in their shops at the dealerships, so the dealership can make more money and the Manufacturer can get more for the cars and supplies and all those OEM fluids.

This strategy is working on oils, which are said to improve lubrication, increase oil change intervals and make the customer believe they need to do all routine maintenance at the dealership. Dealerships want to make those mandatory mileage check-ups so they can increase volumes in their bays, which usually account for 50% or more of their total sales. you still fighting the marketing and reasonable explanation for this. Back to ATF, if you have your heart set on doing ATF services, have a strategy and know you data and specifically your brand counts and do not get overly burdened with all these different ATFs in containers and quantities that you may not use. Take a sampling of the last 6 months and see where you are at with the types of services you are rendering and the number of each make of car coming into your facility before going hog wild. If you are currently selling ATF at a good clip pay attention as newer cars and manufacturers continue to specify certain fluids. Stay heads up.
